DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS
TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS
WWYSA runs entirely on the dedication of its volunteers. Our instructor and advanced training programme ensures that everyone involved in running our sessions — from safety boat crew to lead instructors — has the skills and accreditation to do so safely and effectively.
All our courses are aligned with RYA standards and nationally recognised. Whether you're an experienced sailor looking to become a qualified instructor, or a volunteer wanting to get your powerboat licence and first aid certificate, we'll help you get there.
WHAT'S AVAILABLE
COURSES WE RUN
RYA Instructor Qualification
Become a qualified RYA Dinghy Sailing Instructor. This course qualifies you to plan and deliver RYA courses to beginners and improvers. Prerequisite: sailing competence at RYA Level 2 or above.
RYA Powerboat Level 2
Essential for safety boat crew. The RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification covers boat handling, man overboard procedures, and safety at sea — required for anyone operating our safety boats.
First Aid
All active instructors and safety crew are encouraged to hold a current first aid certificate. We run first aid training sessions periodically throughout the year — watch the events calendar for dates.
Volunteer Induction
New to volunteering with WWYSA? Our induction sessions cover safeguarding, club procedures, and water safety — everything you need to get started with confidence.
